Welcome

"Is this all in my head?"

This is a common question for people who suffer from chronic medical conditions, have endless laboratory testing with normal results, and finally are referred to a psychiatrist.

I take a balanced approach to go beyond symptom relief, identify the root cause of your problems, and help you find ways to revitalize your life so that you can thrive in all of your endeavors.  I analyze the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and chronic disease.

My mission is to support you in reaching your optimal physical and mental health. I use up-to-date genetic and laboratory testing, prescribe medication or supplements when necessary, and outline therapeutic diets and stress-management techniques. I offer on-line coaching services to help you achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

As a patient, you will become an active partner, allowing you to be in charge of improving your own health.

Let me walk you through what will happen during your visits.

Before your first visit, you will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire that will help us to better understand your condition.

During your first visit, I will review the previously filled out forms and obtain additional information to complete your medical history.

My mission is to treat each person as an individual and get to the root cause of health problems. That generally entails learning about your current state of health, health history, family history, diet, lifestyle habits, etc.

The first visit will last approximately 120 minutes and is primarily an information gathering and sharing session.

If you present with severe emotional and/or physical symptoms, we will consider the use of medication to alleviate those symptoms and help you to engage in lifestyle and behavior modification that will ensure more lasting benefits.

I may make some simple recommendations at the end of the first visit to help you improve your diet and sleep and help you to relax.

I will offer you a tool that will help you to monitor your lifestyle daily (hydration, nutrition, activity, and sleep). You can make daily notes to record changes in your mood, level of anxiety, or any target symptom we want to address.

The second visit is generally scheduled two to four weeks after the first consultation.

During the second visit,  I will review and discuss the laboratory results. Based on the results, we will outline a detailed treatment plan.

We will also discuss what may be causing your health problems and what supplementation (vitamin, minerals, herbs), diet, and lifestyle changes (exercise, relaxation, and stress reduction) may be needed, as well as any medications that may be appropriate for your care.

Follow-up visits are usually scheduled approximately 4–8 weeks from this visit to evaluate your progress and make any adjustments in your program.

The frequency of visits thereafter depends on the severity of your condition and your progress in treatment.

If you have any additional questions, please call my office; I will be happy to assist you. Please be sure to complete all forms and submit them prior to your appointment.

I look forward to working with you.
